Seventeen years ago we used this blog to announce Warfare Incorporated Multiplayer. Today we get to announce something even better: the whole game is back — and this time it's built to last.
No install. No account required. It runs on your desktop and on your phone — on a phone, add it to your home screen and it plays just like the native app did. The real thing, running in a browser tab — same engine, same art, same feel.
A little history for anyone just joining us: Warfare Incorporated shipped in 2003 for Palm OS and Pocket PC, came to the iPhone in 2008, got online multiplayer in 2009, and reached the browser in 2019. Then, one piece at a time, the internet did what the internet does: the multiplayer servers went dark in 2022, certificates expired, and the online world around the game quietly faded out.
This summer we rebuilt all of it:
The game itself — the original engine has been ported to run natively in the browser, and the port is exact. Same missions, same units, same art and sounds, same feel. This is the real Warfare Incorporated, not a remake.
Multiplayer is live again — the lobby, game rooms, in-game chat, and 2–4 player battles. We've modernized the UI along the way, and everything works better.
You never have to wait for an opponent — hit Add Bot in any multiplayer game and ApexBot takes a seat. It is not a pushover, and it is not a sparring dummy either: ApexBot is a rated player with its own leaderboard Elo, so beating it moves your rating for real. Help us train ApexBot by playing against it!
The leaderboard is running — ratings, game history, and player statistics. Your old name and career game count are still there, but every rating has been reset to 1500, so the ladder starts even for everyone. Somebody is going to be the first back to 1900. Why not you?
2,300+ add-on missions restored — the entire library of community-created content, 1,300+ mission packs of single player and multiplayer missions, is back and downloadable in-game.
The mission editor is back — as a full web-based editor. Build a map, script objectives, hit Play to test it instantly, then publish it to the community for everyone to download.
Watch any game again — the new replay viewer plays back matches in your browser with variable speed, per-side fog-of-war, a timeline of key moments, and an economy graph. Here's one to watch.
Our history, preserved — the original community forum lives on as a read-only archive at forum.warfareincorporated.com, 38,000 posts of strategies, mission walkthroughs, and friendly trash talk. Go find your old posts!
The whole game on a phone — not a cut-down version. Add it to your home screen and it plays like the native app did.
There's a lot more than fits in one post — here's the full tour of everything that's new.
